Girl Guides: Review of the Shoprite Checkers EeziCoupons app

coupons

QUICK LOOK
- Supports iOS and Blackberry
- Digital coupon system
- Available at all Shoprite and Checkers stores

The EeziCoupons app was announced recently and hopes to revolutionise the outdated paper coupon system. Being a fan of the TV series “Extreme Couponing”, I was excited to download the app and try it out and see what the cost savings would be. I knew the savings wouldn’t be on the same scale as the TV series… but hey, a saving is a saving and means you can buy that little something special that you wouldn’t have been able to before!

10 things I learnt this week

1. Going out midweek three nights in a row is exhausting
2. But going out three nights in a row means no cooking or cleaning up after dinner (score!!)
3. Don’t ever let your Guy unzip your dress when he’s “in the mood” else you’ll end up with the zip being zipped into your skin (ouch!!)
4. This sleep app thingamabob I have on my phone is supposed to be useful but I don’t think it’s working properly
5. I’m looking forward to a shopping spree on Sunday with all the gift vouchers I was given for my birthday
6. As soon as I have a lot of sweet things in the house, I don’t feel like eating them
7. I love filing and admin way too much
8. The Irene Dairy Farm shop is a treasure trove of goodies
9. The new Pick ‘n Pay on William Nicol is a great store but their queuing system sucks
10. I am a sucker for free goodies

Down, Up & Forward

I decided to use Camilla’s blog piece as inspiration for today’s post…

Down
1. Watching Bafana lose on Wednesday night
2. Freezing at the office because winter decided to arrive
3. Waking up feeling grumpy each day this week and not knowing why
4. Realising the monthly grocery shop we did at the beginning of the month has not lasted as long as it should have

Up
1. Going home early yesterday (albeit to take my fiancé to fetch his car from it’s service)
2. Being able to spoil my fiancé with a beautiful winter coat on Wednesday
3. Having a quiet day at office today and yesterday
4. Knowing that today is Friday even though it’s disguised as a Tuesday (Wednesday was a public holiday in South Africa)

Forward
1. Going to look at paper tomorrow for our wedding invitations/stationery
2. Seeing my family on Sunday for Father’s Day celebrations
3. Spending some quality time with my fiancé
4. Climbing into a hot bath as soon as I’m home this afternoon

A teddy bear’s picnic baby shower

I hosted my sister’s baby shower this past Saturday afternoon, and as you all know I’ve been planning and preparing for this for ages. But before I knew it, Saturday morning had arrived and the pre-party preparations needed to be started.

I dragged Gary with me to fetch my specially made cupcakes from Angel and then we went to Flower Spot to get some helium balloons. I am very impressed that my little Bullet had enough space to hold 30 29 helium balloons (1 popped about 5 minutes into the drive), a box of cupcakes, tablecloths and overlays borrowed from the office, and a small carry bag of prep items.

We arrived at the shower venue (my parents’ house) about 2 hours before the shower was about to start and I immediately put Gary to work moving furniture around and helping me put the tablecloths and overlays on the tables. Then it was time to decorate! I decided to make a washing line on the patio and hang all the baby clothes my sister had already received, and I made another smaller washing line to peg all the “babygro messages” on. I also brought out all our old teddy bears to use on the tables to bring in the teddy bear’s picnic theme. The colours for the day were pink, blue and white since my sister and my BIL don’t know whether they are expecting a girl or a boy.

I found this beautiful poem which I included in my hand-made card:

It won’t be long ’til we all find out
If you’re a mister or a miss,
And in the future if you’ll be
A brother or a sis.

Will you be a sweet little girl,
Or a silly little boy?
Either way we’ll swell with pride,
When with the world we share our joy.

Will you be a son or daughter?
You know it doesn’t really doesn’t matter.
We’ll love you just the same
If you’re the former or the latter.

And now time for some pics…

My childhood teddies being used as decor

The blue and pink cupcakes with teddy fondants

The table for pressies and the individually-decorated babygros for messages (thanks RubyLetters for helping to decorate these)

The decorative washing line with baby clothes my sister has already received

And now for some cute pics…

Some of the oh-so-cute shoes and socks my sister received

Understanding Women 109

I may be fond of making lists (and lists of lists) but shopping with a list is such a drag! And this weekend Gary and I have to go do the monthly grocery shop which requires a long list. I hope there will be time this weekend for me to use some vouchers that will allow for shopping without a written-out list, the list will be in my head… I need new sunglasses (I dropped mine and they are barely staying together), work clothes and casual clothes. And I always need more #SexyShoes. Oh wait, there I go again making lists! :)

What are you getting up to this weekend?
