A night at the drive-in

I went to the drive-in with a school friend of mine last night and it was awesome! I haven’t been to the drive-in in FOREVER so I was so excited to go when Jordan smsed me about it. It was supposed to have been a whole bunch of us school pals going but in the end it was just Jordi and I. And I was fine with that.

She organised the chairs and flasks of tea. And I organised the blankets and nibbles (biltong and fresh biscuits). We got the chance to chat and catch up and relax. And it was awesome!

We sat outside for the first movie which was wonderful. Until the wind picked up. Luckily the weather was on our side though as just as the first movie was finishing, it began to rain. So we hotfooted it into the car to get warmed up and snuggled in for the second movie.

The first movie was Rio and it was too cute. If you haven’t seen it, you should! In a brief synopsis, it’s about a male Blue Macaw (“Blue”) who has been reared in captivity, and who is the last male of his species. He is taken to Brazil to mate with a female Blue Macaw (“Jewel”) who is the last female. They are left alone together overnight in a huge aviary but then they get snatched! And the movie is basically about their adventure in getting back to safety and having to deal with Blue’s incapability of flying.

The second movie was Hall Pass. It too was a movie I enjoyed and is basically about two husbands that get a week off from their marriage. I won’t go into too much detail here as I don’t want to spoil the movie for anyone but it’s a great movie for comedy and romance lovers alike!

And now a cute pic of Jordi and I!

After going last night, I’ve been thinking that it would be an awesome idea for a tweetup! We all meet someplace, pile into a few cars (to save money, ya know!), bring blankets and chairs and drinks and nibbles and enjoy a relaxed night out. Only problem will be in deciding when to go because there isn’t a guide to say what movies are going to be on when… What do you think? Good idea? Or bad?

10 things I learnt this week

1.

2. These ready-made-just-heat-up meals that Gary organised for us have been a blessing.
3. Catching up with school friends is not what it used to be.
4. But having a girls night out (read “dinner”) is fun.
5. I am really blessed to be in the industry I am, especially when a lot of things for my wedding come in at a reduced rate.
6. Waking up to builders hammering at walls is not a nice way to start the day.
7. Spending days at the office with builders hammering walls causes a headache from hell.
8. Having a new favourite handbag’s strap break is heart-wrenching.
9. Having a laptop for work is amazing because it means I have my own laptop to play on in the evenings at home.
10. Realising how truly awesome my fiancé is. Who else would allow me to bitch and moan, and then agree with me!

4. A Sunday spent picnicing is a Sunday well spent
5. My weather apps don’t predict the weather correctly
6. A weekend with no afternoon naps is not a successful weekend
7. I should only worry and stress over things that I can control

9. There can never be too much cake
10. I never expected to be so spoiled for my birthday

10 things I learnt this weekend

1. Surprising your loved one with a romantic dinner out really does start the weekend off nicely.
2. It’s great to have breakfast with varsity gal pals and catch up but it’s not great to realise how little left you have in common with them.
3. I must be getting old because I can’t believe it costs R98 for two people to see a movie (we saw Twilight Eclipse on Saturday)…in my day;)
4. Waking up to the smell of pancakes is the best way to start a Sunday.
5. The Dog Whisperer guy knows what he’s talking about – we took the doglets for a walk yesterday and put some of his suggestions to use.
6. I should not assume that a job is being done properly – upon cleaning and tidying my house yesterday, we found out our ex maid had not cleaned properly in ages!
7. I really should do more exercise – the doglet walking and house cleaning have left me feeling very sore today.
8. Watching all the episodes in a series’ season is the best way to watch – we finally finished the first season of 24 yesterday.
9. Sometimes it’s necessary to drive with the radio off – discovered Bullet needs to have it’s brakes checked (it’s going in on Thursday for a service).
10. Home-made prego rolls are a great end to a busy weekend.

10 things I learnt this week

1. Getting out of bed on time is becoming impossible
2. The best way to use up the last of my sms bundle is to get in touch with friends I haven’t heard from in ages
3. I get a lot of work done when my boss is out of the office
4. I’m addicted to too many of my iPhone games
5. Some dumb blonde moments are allowed
6. The best things happen to those who haven’t made any plans – being invited to the Spain vs Chile game in Pretoria at 6:30pm last Friday
7. A shared Cadbury Top Deck chocolate is the best way to eat it (don’t tell my fiancé!!)
8. I really need to figure out what’s bothering me because I’m still having trouble sleeping
9. Wishes really do come true
10. When I ask to leave the office early, I must ask my boss when it’s just him and me

Have a great weekend! And enjoy the quarter final matches!

Yay or Nay

A good school friend of mine is getting married in August this year, and unfortunately I can’t attend her wedding. After declining the invite from my friend, I received an invite to the Bachelorette Party yesterday. Now as far as the etiquette/rules go, if you can’t attend the wedding then you’re usually not invited to the Bachelorette Party.

So… Do I take this up with the organiser? Do I say yes and go to the party even though I’m not going to the wedding? Or do I decline this invite too?

Help!
