Can you believe my wedding bells will be ringing in just over 14 weeks! I remember when it was 14 months away and I was thinking how long we still had to wait. And now it’s just around the next corner.
We’ve done a lot in the way of preparations:
- the wedding venue was booked and deposits paid in January (last year)
- my wedding dress was found and ordered in November
- my shoes were found and bought in January
- in one week I booked a trial for my hair and make-up, booked our minister, and ordered Gary’s ring
- decided on what the invitations will look like
- decided on what the wedding cake will be and what it will look like
- And the guestlist has been finalised
- I’ve also met with my boss in terms of what we’ll be doing for the decor in the chapel and reception room.
There’s still a lot to be done though… And I am worried that I won’t get it all done. But isn’t that what all brides think?!

A recap…
His Sexiness and I began dating in the summer of 2008 and ensured we saw each other whenever possible. We had our first date. We had our second first date in the hope of making a better memory. And we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day.
By the autumn of 2008, His Sexiness and I had already discussed, in detail, about moving in together. We even went so far as wanting to sit down with both parents (separately of course) and chat to them about our thoughts and plans.
His Sexiness brought it up casually with his parents, without me around. His mom was thoroughly pleased with the idea, while his dad was somewhat undecided (though this changed within about 10 minutes, or so I’m told).
My parents were different!
Over dinner one night, we explained our plans of moving in together and were met with looks of disdain and many questions. We were asked why we wanted to move in together so soon? And we explained how we weren’t planning on doing it immediately but rather wanted to test the waters and move in when we could. We were asked why we didn’t just get engaged first? And we then had to explain that ultimately marriage was on the cards but that living together would be a great “test” to determine whether we are well suited etc. We also reminded them of the fact that both sets of our parents had been divorced and have remarried and so we were looking at doing things a little differently to the way they had done it. This comment really struck a chord with them.
More discussions ensued between June and September.
Finally we received the approval from my parents and we started planning. It was decided that I would move in with His Sexiness on Saturday 13 December 2008 – the day after I finished work for the year.
So…for the two weeks leading up to the big move, I packed a little here and there after work each day. And by the time that last Friday arrived, I was almost done.
Saturday morning arrived and I began transforming Bullet (my car) into my mini truck by folding down both of the back seats. I had already loaded my car up to it’s capacity by the time His Sexiness arrived at 9am. We then packed his car to capacity as well. My sister and BIL arrived soon thereafter and since we now had two strong men, the heavy lifting began. My bedroom unit and mattress and bed were hoisted and manoeuvred onto the hired bakkie and tied in place. All in all it took two trips to get all my stuff moved across. And because we’d started early in the day, everything was moved in by lunchtime (excluding the many many boxes which were just piled atop one another).
We then took the rest of the afternoon to get everything in place – the bedroom was first on the list, with the rest of the cottage taking second place. By that Wednesday, most of my stuff had been sorted and put away. There were still a lot of boxes to sort through and junk to throw out but I was moved in! I now lived with my boyfriend! I was beyond excited!

Girl Guides is live! And I’m a reviewer!
Basically, Girl Guides is a group of local ladies that get together monthly to discuss new or improved gadgets over a glass of wine or, in my case, a decadent dessert. We then review these gadgets and show how the girl-next-door can use them to her advantage. It’s kinda like a book club but oh so much better!
I must say that I am super excited to be a part of this new venture. I look forward to reviewing the gadgets according to my very high, very OCD standards.

A recap…
At the beginning of 2008, His Sexiness and I started dating. We had an unromantic first date but he thoroughly spoiled me on our first Valentine’s Day. We spent every possible moment together and when we weren’t together, we’d sms each other or he’d call to chat.
My 24th birthday arrived after we’d been dating for nine months. I don’t remember telling him that I LOVE and ADORE my birthday but I do remember the extent to which he made my special day even more special.
My birthday happened to fall on a Wednesday so I was at work when I received an email at 10h00 with the subject of “Listen” from His Sexiness.
Below the pic of us was a link to a website. It was clue #1 as to what my present was. A cryptic riddle was sent via sms later that day which formed clue #2. For the life of me I cannot remember what clue #3 was. What I eventually figured out was it had something to do with music (clue #1) and that it had something to do with the colour pink (clue #2). Now this got my imagination soaring! Could it be a pink teddy bear that played music? No, don’t think he’d pick something like that. Could it be pink cupcakes with music notes in the icing? Nope, didn’t think so either. I eagerly anticipated the end of the work day as I knew I’d be seeing His Sexiness and knew I’d finally be able to understand his gift.
But unfortunately that evening I was told that my gift hadn’t arrived yet. I was left in limbo – anticipating, waiting, wanting time to hurry up…
The next day (Thursday) I was at a venue supervising the setup of a huge fun day event that was taking place on the Friday. I was quite bored waiting for the stretch marquee/tent to be erected and for the various games to be installed. The next moment I get a call from His Sexiness. I complained about not having had lunch yet and being stuck at a setup. And he immediately offered to pop past with a quick bite to eat. So there I sat, waiting for his arrival with with my stomach grumbling and growling.
He arrived with the tell-tale paper bag of his favourite fastfood store and I immediately tucked in. After our lunch was done he told me that my gift had arrived and would I like it now. Of course I said yes because I just had to put my imagination at ease. Off he went to collect the small package from his car. He arrived back at our temporary lunch area and tells me that he hadn’t had time to wrap it properly because he’d just got his hands on it. And I think, “Great! Less time on unwrapping and more time on finally knowing what it is!” He hands it over, and I finally see that it’s a pink iPod (one of the new editions). I am in love! I protest a lot about how he shouldn’t spoil me so much but at the same time loving the fact that he wants to spoil me! The best part of all… He whipped out his Macbook, connected my new iPod and installed all his music on it so I could use my new gift right then and there while at the boring setup!

A recap…
At the end of January of 2008 we had our first date. It was neither romantic nor sexy but it was truly memorable as His Sexiness showed his gentlemanly side.
![]()
The Monday after our first date was the day His Sexiness and I officially started dating. He arrived with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and stated the obvious in asking if we could be exclusive. I was thrilled!
A couple weeks later the international day of love arrived. I had been planning my present to him for days. I didn’t want to be too over-the-top and mushy considering we’d just started dating, and I also didn’t want to look like I didn’t put any thought into it. I decided to go with home-made vouchers with little gifts to go with them – a candle-lit home-cooked meal for two was attached to a couple of candles. I thought it was perfect and I couldn’t wait for him to open the goodie bag!
If I thought my present was thoughtful and wonderful, his present way outshone mine…
I was sent a very formal sms during the international day of love requesting my presence at his place that evening. I arrived on time but was told that I had to stay in my car in the parking lot as he wasn’t ready for me. I must have waited about five minutes but my nerves and excitement made those few minutes drag by!
When the time eventually came, I was told to drive around to the garden gate entrance to his flatlet where I was greeted by His Sexiness looking dashing in a suit, waistcoat and tie. I was led through the gate and into his small garden and that’s when I saw why he’d taken so long…
He had completely transformed his little covered patio! There were hundreds of lit tea-light candles on the edges of the walkway as well as surrounding the edges of the patio. There were two bean bags with a blanket spread in front of them and a bottle of wine was chilling in an ice bucket on the side. And hiding in the dim light, on top of a bean bag, were 14 long-stemmed red roses. I was poured a glass of wine and told to make myself comfortable while I waited for the next surprise. A few moments later I was served take-away dinner from my favourite restaurant (where we’d tried to remake as our first date). He made it even more special by ordering in the dishes we’d had that night. It was an amazing night and such an unforgettable present!

It’s a simple fact about me, and one that my fiancĂ© (and all of my friends) knows well – I am ruled by my sweet tooth! I love all things sweet and gooey and decadent and more-some. I cannot feed my sweet tooth enough!
This is where the excitement comes in… I have decided to bring another facet into my blogging life… I am going to start photographing, eating and then reviewing the divine desserts I taste. I mean who wouldn’t take advice from someone who seems so educated on the subject?!
So look out for my new page “Sinful Sweets” which will show and tell all about my wonderous dessert escapades!

A recap…
In the January of 2008 we met again, we chatted a lot via sms, and we shared our first kiss…
At the end of that January in 2008 I organised a huge banquet dinner for Absa Bank which was held in an airport hangar at OR Tambo International (Johannesburg’s international airport). The dinner was for 1500 guests and included 5 star decor, entertainment by Doctor Victor & the Rasta Rebels, delicious cuisine and wonderous cocktails. There was a lot of running around on my part but the event went superbly!
Now His Sexiness and I had been seeing each other for a week, and as he was such a gentleman, he offered to meet me at the airport hangar once my event was finished so he could follow me home and ensure I got home safe. I jumped at the chance to see him since I’d been so busy those last few days with this event. So he met me at the venue and followed me home. He came in for a cuppa tea and the most glorious thing happened…we ended up chatting the whole night! I had never experienced this before! It was wonderful!
However I did not feel so great the next morning – I do require at least 8 hours of sleep to function properly. But the fact that His Sexiness was still there gave me the energy sleep would have done.
We were chatting once again when I got the phone call… The phone call I was hoping to have avoided…
While in the organising stages of the hangar event, I had specifically instructed the caterers and bar service that they would need to keep their areas clean during the event, and clean up AND remove any/all rubbish or refuse they might incur. This phone call was to notify me that this had not been done and that paper and other debris were now being swept by the wind onto OR Tambo airfields. This was a HUGE problem!
So off I rush to shower and change! And while rushing around I advise His Sexiness that I have to dash to the hangar to sort this out and that I’ll catch up with him later. Again his gentlemanly side shows itself when he offers to drive me there and help out where he can. I was gobsmacked! I mean who would offer up their Sunday to help someone clean up a massive hangar? Obviously someone that liked me A LOT!
We got to the hangar and the mess was worse than I expected. I had been thinking that His Sexiness would be able to keep me company while I sorted out the mess but I had no such luck… Not only was there a lot to clean up inside the hangar, the area outside the hangar (where the catering kitchen tent was situated) was a disaster area. I immediately got in touch with the airport caterer who provided our crew meals and asked to borrow a few brooms and black plastic bags. I then put His Sexiness and myself to work.
We swept and we swept and we swept. We filled black bag after black bag after black bag. It was seriously hard work but luckily it only took a couple hours to get everything in order. It wasn’t the most glamorous or sexiest first date, but that was when I first thought that His Sexiness could be The One.

We’ve been counting down the days, the hours, the minutes… Can you believe that in a few hours time we’ll be watching the opening ceremony! The Soccer World Cup is upon us! *excitement*
The anticipation and excitement has been overwhelming! And the national pride is inspiring!
I have enjoyed the anticipation…the countdown… I have enjoyed seeing all the cars sporting our flag – tied around wing mirrors, held down on bonnets, flying from windows. I have enjoyed the sense of family that it’s created between us.
I intend to enjoy this tournament and watch a few matches! Although not for the reasons you may think… I am not a huge soccer fan so I intend to play “spot the sexy player”! I am also interested in seeing the different types of people that go to support (people watching is the best sport you know).
What will you be doing?

A recap…
His Sexiness had finally asked for my number and I found myself with my phone glued to my hand awaiting his next message. I was smitten! I had to go away that first weekend for a manager’s conference for work and couldn’t wait for the trip back because it meant I’d be closer to His Sexiness.
I arrived home early on that Sunday afternoon in the January of 2008 and was so excited to be home and closer to His Sexiness. As memory serves I took the plunge and invited His Sexiness over to my place to chat and get to know each other better. (I was still living with my parents so this was quite a plunge for me…)
It seemed to take forever for His Sexiness to arrive… I paced up and down, checked and rechecked my hair, checked and rechecked that I still smelt sexy, checked and rechecked there there was nothing in my teeth… And then I heard the doorbell! And my heart went into overdrive while an excited smile plastered itself onto my face!
There was a small amount of awkwardness when we said hello but I brushed the feeling aside and took him through to the kitchen to get us something to drink. We then spent the afternoon on the couch chatting! We were amazed at the amount of mutual friends we discovered we had, and the amount of things we had in common. I was thrilled that we were getting along so well and had so much to talk about!
His Sexiness met my parents in the kitchen when I told him he just had to stay for pancakes. I think he was a bit overwhelmed with having met the parents just after starting to get to know me.
After the delicious pancakes, my parents went to bed (thank goodness they realised I wanted some privacy), and we went to sit on the couch again. After some more wonderful conversation, the time came when a first kiss was imminent – the conversation had quietened down and there was a tense excitement in the atmosphere. That moment seemed to last forever! I was wondering if he was going to make a move. I was wondering if he actually liked me and wanted to make the move. I was wondering whether he was biding his time until he could leave without seeming to be rude. (Great self esteem I have right?!)
Right then and there I made a decision…
I leaned over and kissed him! I made the first move! I gave in to my intuition and planted a big fat one on his lips! And boy was it amazing! I’m not sure how long that kiss lasted for because the rest of the world just fell into darkness while His Sexiness was in the spotlight.

Quite a few weeks ago I was given the heartbreaking news that my grandfather had passed away. The news came to me on my second day at my new job and luckily I was super busy at the office otherwise it’d have been difficult to keep my emotions in check.
My family organised to go to my grandfather’s cottage one Wednesday evening so we could go through his things and see if there was anything we’d like. It was wonderful going through things and remembering… I picked up a set of hard placemats and immediately remembered dinners at my grandparents’ flat where I only used to sit at a place where I thought the placemat was beautiful enough. (I put these in ‘my’ pile to take…) I picked up a particular small glass with a yellow and orange design and immediately remembered that being ‘my’ glass. The special glass that only I was allowed to drink out of. (I would have taken this too but it was badly damaged – chipped and cracked…) And then I found things that I can’t remember making – Christmas and birthday cards with the cute hand-writing of a little one learning to write. (I have these safely hidden to ensure no-one gets their hands on them, so no blackmail there… wink wink) Of all the things I looked through and put one side for me to take home, the most awesome thing I got to take was my grandparents’ dining room suite. (It helps being the youngest with the least amount of furniture…)
We were finally able to pick up the dining room suite this weekend after a few weekends of failed attempts. I was super excited when Saturday morning arrived and it was time to collect my company’s delivery vehicle (I asked to borrow it for the move), go to my aunt’s house to collect the furniture (my grandfather’s cottage was built on her property when my gran passed away), and go home to put everything in place. It was a bit of a rush getting everything done and we ended up only putting everything in place after coming home from the rugby, but I was super excited that everything was safe in my home.
The dining room table with the six chairs:

Now all that’s missing are some fake flowers in all the vases, because anyone who knows me knows that I can’t keep plants alive for long…

P.S. The greatest, happiest part of having ‘inherited’ this furniture is that every time I see part of the set I think of my grandparents… Love and miss you Granny and Grandad…
